The Healing Hub

Healing is a non-linear, reflexive, and sometimes unpredictable process. We know that there is no singular way to heal, and it can involve a multitude of practices and methods. Yet while there are diverse paths to healing, they all have a few things in common.

Release of the shame and self-criticism

Regardless of what you have experienced, or of choices you have made, you deserve to live a life of meaning, fulfillment, connection, and belonging. An important step in healing is to allow yourself space to grow, to learn about yourself in new ways, and to experience joy without the restriction of that harsh inner voice.

Use the wisdom of the body

Simply put, since trauma is stored in the body, the effective release or transformation of trauma must involve the body. Techniques like breathwork, therapeutic movement, singing, and a multitude of other somatic (body-based) practices have been shown to greatly improve and enhance healing outcomes.

Self-regulation of the nervous system

The ability to move from a reactive state (fight, flight, freeze, fawn, shutdown) to a connected state (rest and digest, or rest and connect) is vital to rewiring the system after trauma. This ability to self-regulate also greatly improves our ability to manage stress, and increases our overall health and wellbeing even if we have not experienced trauma.

Healing brings resilience

Human beings have a remarkable capacity to adapt, persevere, and grow, even after harsh or painful experiences. Post-traumatic growth can bring a stronger sense of personal agency, deepened resilience, and a greater capacity to experience love, awe and fulfillment.
